A High Court has inherent jurisdiction to intervene in uncompleted bail proceedings commenced in a magistrate’s court, and also has supervisory power over the conduct of proceedings in the magistrates’ courts in both civil and criminal matters, to ‘supervise the manner in which’ the courts discharge their functions in order to ensure ‘quality control’.
